  • TikTok: The Future of Online Shopping?

TikTok: The Future of Online Shopping?

TikTok, a reasonably new social media phenomenon and a platform that has taken off in recent years.

With over 1 billion users worldwide and a consistent flow of new features, Many brands are joining the platform to boost their marketing efforts despite being outside the ‘typical’ user demographics.

TikTok’s user base is growing at speed. With this, it is becoming a great platform to offer businesses opportunity to reach new, larger audiences. The video-focused social networking service allows creators to maximise on exposure. Through creative short clips where they can jump on different trends, hashtags, and sounds.

The popularity of TikTok reaches from teens all the way to the grandparents, celebrities, musicians, influencers and now businesses too… you name it, they’re on there.

The short video limits help create a unique user experience where individuals are encouraged to get creative with the many features available. As video marketing grows, TikTok plays perfectly to those with shorter attention spans (which is in fact most of us, even if we don’t realise it!). With videos that are brief and straight to the point. This holds great potential for brands in the social space. Users are far more likely to view and interact with videos that have a compelling message and a strong established target audience. This means you could be on to a winner with TikTok and gain some amazing engagement for your brand.

The growth is allowing TikTok to become a place hot for brands. It has quickly established an e-commerce capability that capitalises on the growing popularity of retail social commerce. eMarketer estimates it will be worth $80 billion in the United States by 2025.

TikTok shared that their platform was a place in which ‘people flocked to to express themselves, exchange opinions, connect and learn from each other’. With that has come the powerful, organic effects on shopping trends. Users of the platform have an extremely influential sway and can create a bandwagon of love for a product or brand, making it rapidly go viral. This is a new and powerful cultural sensation.

E-commerce giants like ASOS and Elf Cosmetics have been two of the many brands to make an impact on the platform. Utilising the opportunity for brand discovery and engagement. Creators on TikTok really help to humanise these brands. This can be a valuable factor to consider when selecting influencers and platforms to work with.

Fashion, lifestyle and technology are three of the most trending catagories. They are what TikTok app users tend to spend their disposable income on. For many brands, the platform offers the ideal format for showcasing their products in creative ways. After a long time of lacking the social commerce opportunities available on other social platforms.  TikTok, after nearly a year of trials, have rolled out TikTok Shopping. This provides a way for users to buy products in the app without opening a web browser to go to a separate eCommerce store.

As this online marketing opportunity grows for brands. We are excited to see who, or what products, take their turn to trend and how brands will continue utilising this space in a creative manner.

  • Why You Should Work With Recruiters: Candidates

Why You Should Work With Recruiters: Candidates

Working eith recruiters: the excitement of a career change is sometimes hindered by the daunting effort of job hunting. Whether you’re making a big industry move, quitting your existing role or just try something new. Arecruiter can add a lot of support and value to your journey. No matter how big or small.

Job boards and social media allow vacancies to be so readily available to us. With many platforms allowing you to upload your CV and be approached by companies without even looking. So why should you use a recruiter to secure your next role?

Recruiters are like your personal cheerleader. They are there to help you be your best and guide you through the process closely. Helping you increase the chances of securing the perfect role.

Let us explain in more detail…

Job searching can be a very tedious and slow process at times. By working with a recruiter you are adding another member to your team and essentially splitting the workload.

Of course, it comes with the advantage that this is what recruiters dedicate a huge percentage of their time to daily and they know the markets extremely well. With that knowledge, on top of the information you provide. They can usually find ideal vacancies quickly, that match up with your desires and skillsets.

Following from that, recruiters often have strong relationships with hiring managers and companies. This means they can influence and speed up the process at each stage as and when needed.

Relative to relationships recruiters have with clients, it means that they can often get you greater access to opportunities and companies. Not all vacancies are posted on job boards. Some companies post solely on their website or just strictly rely on agencies to source their candidates.

With that, it’s important to remember the scale of network size recruiters tend to have. Taking advantage of this can allow you to get the most out of your job seeking efforts through extremely credible leads.

You will find that most recruiters are specialist in their area, working on one or few industries.

That means their connections and knowledge in your relevant industry will be very strong. With that in mind, they have the ability to provide you with excellent advice throughout your job search. They can provide great career advice on the whole as experts in the field.

Securing a job can be an extensive process, with multiple stage interviews and phone calls. Recruiters can work closely with you throughout the journey to help support you at each stage. From interview practice, to project reviews and company specific advice.

When it comes to securing a role, some individuals can find it nerve-wracking to negotiate. This is another reason why recruiters are great – they can do the job for you! This includes negotiating salary, benefits to the role duties. We are there to cover every element with the company and help shape it to work best for both you and them.

If you don’t make the first job you go for a recruiter will always stick by you to continue the search. One key thing to remember is that your details won’t be lost in a huge database. The systems will always work to pull out your relevant information and constantly keep you in consideration in the future.

Let us match your CV to the best role…

  • Ten Steps to Improving Your Daily Productivity

Ten Tips to Improve Daily Productivity

There are only so many hours in the working day, so what we have is very valuable to our productivity.

Starting the day with an organized to do list and set goals. But before you know it the day is nearing the end and your list is suddenly longer when you started.

Fast turnaround of work can be mistaken for productivity. It’s very easy to end up being overwhelmed by our workload or obsessing over end goals. Often, a fast turnaround may mean that work is completed to a lower standard than if the turnaround was longer.

Paying no attention to both the process of getting there, or the efficiency of the process, can have adverse effects too. Short term goals may be achieved. But reaching longer term goals with no method, time or patience can hinder this achievement.

To work to your optimum, you are then left with two choices – work for longer hours, or work smart.

So, what is key for this? Of course… Productivity.

We often implement changes to improve our productivity and routine throughout life. Or at least attempt to, with it quite often lasting only for a short period of time. However, in this blog we have pulled together some of our favourite tips and tricks for you to trial and implement. Keep in mind that 21 days is the typical time frame to set a new habit permanently. Chose wisely and stay consistent!

A great way to get on top of, and master your productivity, is giving a short amount of time to review your progress that day. You can then decipher what tasks you need to complete tomorrow. Make a brief plan and review it in the morning. Not only does this help with your organization but it can help you switch off at the end of the day. You are able to wind down for the evening knowing where you stand with your work.

In fact, have many breaks. You may feel as you don’t need one, but your brain and body will. Stepping away from our screens for a short period of time can help clear your head and give a fresh start. Breaks are said to help you retain and process information and in turn improve your performance.

So, go for a short walk, have a cup of tea, and take ten minutes in a new environment, have a chat with a colleague, read a book. Whatever is for you.

If we don’t take breaks, we can easily get drained with head fog and all the rest. When you have important tasks to do it can really help to identify your ‘awake’ hours (the time in the day where you generally find your drive, creativity and productivity is at its highest). To find your awake hours we suggest you pay attention to your body and identify when this time is over a week period. Then, going forward make sure you prioritize your most important tasks in those hours.

Don’t waste your brain power trying to remember things. Have a note pad where you can scribble down any thoughts. If you’re a perfectionist, have another notepad where you can enjoy organising and displaying these thoughts appropriately.

Making notes, mindmaps, lists (whichever you prefer) has many benefits. First and foremost, it can help you stay on track and do the things you need to do rather than put them off. These methods can also help you off load all the things going on in your head and stay productive.

Use time blocks when planning your day by writing out your tasks and assigning the time you will give to each one.

Stay disciplined with this and have control when beginning and ending new and current tasks.

This is a time management tool that will encourage you to recognize your priorities and spread your time evenly over the working day. It can help push you to give ultimate focus and effort on the task you are working on and will help combat procrastination.

*TIP: giving yourself less time than you think you need may help with task completion or focus. Particularly if you work well under pressure.

The worst two work barriers there are.

Most importantly and obviously – keep that personal phone on DND. In fact, put it out of site completely, to stop that aimless scrolling!

If you find yourself procrastinating and avoiding tasks at all costs, try and turn this time into a ‘positive’ procrastination. By this we mean doing all the little tasks or procrastinating with things you can benefit from. Such as brainstorming, planning, working on your notes etc.

If you have tasks that reoccur on a weekly or monthly basis, try to schedule completion of these at the same time every occurrence. This will help it become an implemented routine which won’t be a choice of completing. Eventually it will become a natural, easy task.

This can vary between individuals, but for many, music can help you get in a real focused state. Get those headphones in and block out any surrounding distractions.

Lo-fi music is often lyric free, relaxing and follows a steady tempo. This can be a good go to style for working, as it keeps the listener engaged and un-distracted by any lyrics which can lead to better comprehension and working.

Big heavy meals at lunch time are not the best idea. The digestion of a big meal can make you feel extremely tired and lethargic which can be an annoying hinder on your productivity.

Although lunch is a great break a lot of us look forward to in the day, try to keep it light. Snacking is a great way to fill your mini break slots at work so try doing little and often rather than one big lunch.

Be forgiving of yourself. We all have off days where we are trying to squeeze a reasonable amount of productivity out of ourselves. And all face those frustrating days where you have that block you just can’t brush off, but that is ok. We need to learn to be accepting of that not only for ourselves but others too.

The best thing to do when feeling like this is to talk. Someone might have some tips to help you combat this or alternatively you may be given some different tasks to try and work on. Take a break, clear your head, and start again. The worst thing to do here is to try and deal with it yourself. Then spend the day aimlessly getting nothing done. Accept how you’re feeling and work on doing something about it!

  • Drinks Trends of 2022

    Drinks Trends of 2022

Whilst the drinks industry took an undeniably hard hit from the pandemic, during a time of huge global disruption the drinks market proved itself as one of most resilient consumer goods categories. Economies have been set back and the industry has had to struggle with closures throughout the hospitality sector, shipment costs, delays, and higher packaging costs, to mention a few challenges. However, as at-home drinking increased we witnessed huge boosts in the ready to drink, no-low and craft markets. The steady increase of consumers enjoying dining and drinking out has further encouraged this growth, as we emerge out the other side of the pandemic.

There are many opportunities for the drinks industry to take advantage of in the year to come as the market picks up. We are seeing consumer habits and palates changing, a global focus on sustainability within companies and experience led venues are on the rise, which will open many doors for the drinks industry. Continue reading to discover our forecasted trends for the drinks market in 2022.

    Tequila Time

It’s time for gin to step over, as this year is going to be Tequila’s time. The gin boom had a big impact on the industry with some distilleries tripling in size since 2016 and countless flavours entering the market, whilst it is expected to remain a popular drink of 2022 Tequila is the new spirit on the rise and expected to continue leading the growth of mainstream spirits. Individuals are becoming more educated on tequila’s fine craftmanship and production process and as the spirit becomes more widely appreciated, we will be seeing its consumption as a longer, mixed drink increase (along with the trusty lime and salt combo shot to!). Celebrity brands such as 818 and Teremana are also proving very popular in the Tequila market as we recognised in our last blog.

    Premium Please

The long period of at-home drinking has now shaped the way consumer attitudes and needs have since changed. After consuming more premium at home experiences in the form of at home cocktail making kits, premium wine subscriptions and more, consumers standards have now risen as they expect the best prices, quality, and experience from the out of home drinking. Whilst the industry does place a high level of pressure on brands to deliver on the premium out of home, individuals are continuing to follow this through to their at home drinking habits. The continuation of these habits are providing a great opportunity for retailers to maximise on their sales.

Additionally, there are a percentage of individuals wanting to explore big and bold flavor profiles with big and bold coming in strong this year. With the pandemic preventing any holidays and travelling, unique spirit flavour is proving to be a hit within the market, giving a taste of the tropics from home – from brands such as Smirnoff and Haig Club.

Continued Popularity and Gowth for the NOLO

Health-conscious movements in line with mindful drinking have gained a lot of backing in the past few years, with that has come the decline in alcohol consumption from particularly, the younger generation. It’s clear the drinks industry is following these behavioral shifts as we are seeing more and more drink variations entering the market with the likes of hard selzters, low calorie RTD’s and mixed soda drinks, all focusing on low sugar, natural ingredients and more.

People are back to socialising and despite a lot of consumers enjoying NOLO beverages, a large proportion are not necessarily leading completely alcohol free lifestyles; the majority are simply deciding to make healthier choices – a sweet, sugar heavy cocktail is not always what people want each time they go out.

    Sustainability Matters

Particularly after the COP26 summit there has been a huge push on sustainability and environmental impact from brands; with a heavy focus on making positive changes throughout every aspect of a business. Globally we are now seeing efforts from brands as they work on new product launches, packaging advancements, unexpected mergers and acquisitions, production methods and more as they work to improve their carbon footprint.

Whilst packaging is being made more sustainable, businesses are altering other elements of their functionality such as e-commerce and delivery to become eco-friendly. Many ready to drink subscription brands are continuing to remain popular after the pandemic pushed influence on these changes, this popularity has also stretched to the rise of quick-commerce. Involving rapid delivery from brands such as Fancy where packaging like pouches are making the process easier which is key in a rapidly growing sector.

  • Interviews vs Dating… What’s the Difference?

Interviews vs Dating... What's the Difference?

It’s a funny pattern we often pick up on. So what better time then Valentine’s Day to share with you the similarities dating and interviews bring. You want to be loved and have control, there’s great deal of unknown, a lot of room for error. The need to appear interested but not desperate. Surprisingly, some of the best dating advice may also be used to a succeed in your job search! So hopefully with this blog you might be able to take away a few tips from us. Whether it be dating or interviews…  New Chapter is giving our best dating advice, who would’ve thought!

    1. Mutual Friends Bring Connections

Friends can be some of the best people for introductions and getting a ‘referral’ can be super valuable in both games.

Mutual connections can get you one step ahead of the game. Knowing both parties can often mean they understand your suitability and introductions can be very worthwhile.

    2. You Have to Get Out There to Reap Results

You can’t discover job opportunities or meet new people by making no effort and doing nothing.

Network, do your research, contact firms that stand out to you, upload your CV to job boards… and get those interviews!

    3. First Impressions Count

Those first time nerves, worrying about what they will think, what to wear, how you want to come across… it’s all normal.

Starting from the first step, how you will come across on paper, are you their type?

Your CV must highlight all your best assets and skills. Use this to really sell yourself and prove why you are the perfect candidate.

We can’t enhance how important preparation is before the first interviews… have a look through our guide to help you out here

    4. Your First Date

It’s likely you’re nervous, but that shows you care. Try to look at the exciting aspects of this potential new chapter in your life, gather all the questions you have and enter feeling positive and confident.

The KEY thing is to be yourself.

With that said you must choose your words carefully, keep the balance of showing off your personality whilst keeping professional.

Of course you want to dress to impress too, you need to make a favorable impression. Keep simple, classic, smart and minimalistic, don’t let your clothes distract from you!

Topics of conversation on dates and in interviews can often be quite similar. Where you are from? What motivates you? What are your passions?  However, in both circumstances this needs to flow and keep your listener interested. You want to tell them about your most exciting and relevant experiences. Share what you can bring to the business and tie in your experience with what they are looking for.

Body language is always something to keep in mind. You want to present yourself as confident and friendly in interviews. Keep your shoulders back, arms unfolded, consistent eye contact and don’t forget to smile!

Finally, be on time, there is nothing worse than being late. It shows you are unorganised and can show a lack of commitment or respect.

    5. The Second Date is Set

Hopefully at this stage the nerves are under control. Getting to a second meeting or futher interviews shows you did well. They like you, take confidence from that.

This is an opportunity to get to know one another on a deeper level. Sometimes you are required to do a presentation or participate in activities. This provides you with another great opportunity to sell yourself and your skills.

    6. Look Out for Chemistry & Matched Morals

A very important step in the process. This is something that in the long run will have a big impact and really show up if you aren’t on the same level.

Ensure the business you are looking to work for share the same ethics and moral compass as yourself. You can get an idea of the company’s personality through their social media presence and the way they present themselves online.

Top Tip: Do your research and don’t be afraid to ask questions surrounding this topic, they need to be right for you just as much as you need to be right for them.

    7. Don't Settle

With that said, don’t be afraid to look for the full package and don’t settle until you have that. Know your worth and never doubt it!

Make sure you understand the remuneration package that comes with your role. Don’t hesitate to compare this to what other companies are offering. It’s important that you are comfortable with what they are providing and that the care for their employees is clear.

It is common for us to feel the need to lower our expectations and reduce your drive for perfection and excellence. However, this will never serve you well. There is nothing wrong with wanting to work somewhere that will make the most of your skills, value you, and reward your hard work. It is always possible to get what you want if you work hard for it and show that you are deserving.

But… it is important to keep in mind that no job will be perfect, there will always be parts you dislike more than others. Don’t get caught too up on finding the ‘perfect’ role.

Settling will only in time produce resentment and dissatisfaction within you job, which is good for nobody. Be clear and honest about what you need and want.

    8. Don't be Too Eager

That awful wait afterwards where you don’t want to look too desperate but equally you want to show your interest.

Rather than contacting them straight away, you want to give a day or so after interviews to follow up. You can then thank the interviewee for their time and confirm your interest in the company and role.

    9. Make it Official

You’ve done it and things have been made official!

The job offer has come through, time to resign and get preparing for your new role you have worked so hard for.

    10. Don't Forget Your Friends

Never forget those who have been there from the start.

If you have worked through your job hunting process with a recruiter never forget to keep them in the loop post job offer. They will be there to help you with the move by answering questions, supporting any nerves and keeping the process as smooth as possible.

Not to mention they are invested in your journey and want to be a part of it right until the end!

Finding the right match is not easy in dating or on your job search. Just remember to stay present, open and honest with both the other person and yourself. Stick to your true self and facing those awkward situations will become much easier. It will allow you to find the one and shape a career you love!

As recruiters our favourite thing is watching the match making we do come to life. Being part of that huge new chapter in an individual’s life is so rewarding. So, if you are looking for a fresh start in your career (sorry we can’t help any further with the love life) then please send over your CV to us. We would love to work with you on finding THE ONE.

  • A Look Into The Celeb Alcohol Market

A Look Into The Celeb Drinks Market

The celeb alcohol market is full of big names and with the industry having boomed over recent years. We have seen some highly commended products come out the other side. These have even shown to rival some of our most well-known names. From the Delevingne sisters to Jay Z and tequila to classic whisky… there is something there for everyone. What better way is there to end dry January?

    818 Tequila - Kendal Jenner

One of the newest alcoholic products to enter the celebrity market is American model, Kendal Jenners 818 Tequila. With an ABV of 40% and multiple awards. Including the tasting competitions at the World Tequila Awards and the Ultimate Spirits Challenge. The drink has been a hit ever since its release in 2021.

Jenner has worked closely with ‘family-owned farms in Jalisco, Mexico to bring you the smoothest, most natural, and best tasting tequila possible. Only the highest quality ingredients are used in its creation.’

After four years in the making the sustainable Tequila has flavours of sweet agave and vanilla. With undertones of tropical and citrus fruits, finishing with notes of almonds, lime and toasted coconut. This creates an ultra smooth and mellow taste, a great addition to the celeb alcohol market.

    £64.99The Bottle Club

Della Vite Prosecco - Delevingne Sisters

As is the way for many of us, the sisters felt that prosecco was at the center of many memories. It had long been a part of their sisterhood and friendship… and with that came their very own prosecco.

Although you may initially think the Della Vite Prosecco is named after its founders Chloe, Poppy and Cara Delevingne. It’s actually the Italian term for ‘of the vine’. A suitable name for the Italian made fizz which is produced with home made natural ingredients through innovative methods.

The brand currently offers two Proseccos, the Superiore (rich and extra-dry ) and the Treviso (clean and bright with a mix of gooseberry and date notes). Both capture the feeling of sun drenched days and the warmth of good company.

    £25.99 – Selfridges

Quatre Vin Wines - Oliver Proudlock, Emma-Louise Proudlock, Elliot Awin, and Paula Anton

These gorgeous wines with a clean, chic branding style have been created recently by close friends. Oliver Proudlock and Elliot Awin, along with their partners Emma-Louise Proudlock and Paula Anton. We have the pandemic to thank for many great businesses, with this being one. They first thought of going into business with one another during this time. Soon realising their ‘collective ethos behind building a brand was so aligned’ and thus came Quatre Vin Wines.

May 2021 saw the launch of the first wine to the celeb alcohol market, a peachy pale rosé with a sophisticated red added to the line since. The wines are organically farmed, vegan friendly and sustainably made at a family run winery. With 7 generations of experience in the heart of Provence.

    £16.99 – QV Shop

Fresh Vine Wine – Nina Dobrev & Julianna Hough

Following in the footsteps of many other A-lister wine entrepreneurs such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Cameron Diaz. Nina Dobrev and Julianna Hough entered the market back in 2019 with their health conscious wines.

Now more than ever people are extremely health conscious, diets are becoming more strict and alcohol consumption is going down. The girls created a wine with this lifestyle in mind. Forming a brand based on products that are Gluten Free, Keto friendly and vegan. All with the aim to help find ‘a balance between your active routine and enjoying those other moments with your friends. With a glass of delicious wine that you can count on complementing the work that you put in without the sacrifice’.

The wine goes through a rigorous process from vine to bottle with close attention being paid to every gram of sugar, calorie, and carb that goes into each, giving us ‘a unique collection of bold, crisp, and creamy wines that embody deeper connection with active lifestyles’.

    From £13.21 ($17.89) – Fresh Vine Wines

Aviation American Gin - Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds may not be the creator of Aviation Gin, however he has been a huge part to play in its success, with his ambassadorial efforts and distinct humour setting the tone and personality of the brand.

Aviation has recently been sold to Diageo, the owner of Gordon’s and Tanqueray, who agreed to pay up to US$610 million to acquire Aviation, but despite Reynolds selling his stake back in 2020 he will remain the public face of the brand for the next 10 years.

The gin is massively respected in the industry and arguably one of the best celebrity brands on the market.

Haig Club Classic Whisky - David Beckham

Launched by David Beckham in 2014, Haig Club is an ageless Whisky crafted at the oldest grain distillery in Scotland. The brands style puts a modern, stylish twist on the traditions of whisky but remains perfect for both regular whisky lovers and newbies branching out alike.

The whisky is known to be light, sweet and sumptuously smooth and now boasts a new flavour option to its drinkers after a release in 2021 of the Mediterranean orange twist on the drink.

    £25 – Sainsbury’s

King St. Vodka – Kate Hudson

The center point of many gorgeous cocktails, this vodka is a premium-made, female-founded, hydration-heavy alcohol, and another health conscious drink to add to our list! The vodka was released in 2019 and found its name off the back of Kate’s memories of living on King Street in NYC’s Greenwich Village.

The 7x distilled vodka is crafted in Santa Barbara through a proprietary process using GMO-free corn and alkaline water which yields a gluten free, ultra-premium spirit with a hint of sweet vanilla flavour’.

    £22.14 ($29.99) – Sip Whisky

    Armand de Brignac – JAY-Z – Champagne

Although JAY-Z has recently sold 50% of the company to luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, he was in fact the first rapper to outright own a champagne label.

Armand de Brignac (aka ‘the ace of spades’) comes with a fairly heavy price tag but has been described as a soft and creamy, infused with peach, apricot, red berry, citrus, orange blossom and sprinkles of brioche, which sounds pretty special!

According to Forbes the brand is said to have helped Jay-Z reach the billionaires club in 2019, he has used the name in many of his well known raps which has helped the brand gain a lot of it traction over the years.

    £290 – The Champagne Company

    SelvaRey Rum – Bruno Mars

SalvaRey loosely translating to ‘king of the jungle’ in Spanish and with now four flavour expressions in the rum collection, Bruno Mars has worked closely as creative visionary and co-owner of the brand to push it to its full potential.

“I tried the rum years ago and loved it,” said Mars. “It tasted like tropical luxury, like I was on vacation. So we started working together, bouncing ideas about how we could show people how this drink makes you feel. Took some years and a lot of Piña Coladas but, dare I say, we did it.”

Owners reserve, White, Chocolate and Coconut are the four flavours that make SalvaRey, each with very modest price points starting $35.99… however, some sad news, it isn’t currently available to buy in the UK.

£26.55 ($35.99) – Unavailble to buy in the UK

Teremana Tequila – Dwayne 'the rock' Johnson

We absolutely love the meaning of the Teremana brand –

“Teremana means spirit of the earth. From taking care of the land where we source our agave, to the painstaking process of creating our tequila, to the people we work and spend time with. Teremana stands for taking care of what and who we love.”

Designed to be the ‘invitation that brings people together’, this tequila brand is sustainable and created with a lot of care in the Jalisco Highlands.

The line-up includes Blanco and Reposado expressions, both of which offer a bold and intense drinking experience – the perfect go to for your margaritas this summer starting at £52.

  • The Metaverse, Blockchain and NFT’s

    The Metaverse, Blockchain and NFT’s

The loud entrance of metaverse, blockchain and NFT technology that will forever alter the landscape of our daily lives.

On its way to becoming the mainstream ‘future’. The Metaverse, Blockchain and NFTs are all advances for marketers to begin learning about and experimenting with. It may be difficult to get started now but becoming a part of the community early on can help a brand gain credibility and authenticity.

Millennials and Gen X particularly are a key target market you can capture against competitors. They are an audience who are known to stay well up-to-date and engaged with the newest products and technologies. Not to mention of course, they are our future. What better than to be one of the brands who captures them first!

    • Deliver unique and exclusive brand experiences for your customers.
    • Increase brand awareness and affinity through new ways to interact.
    • Create a buzz in the lead-up to events and product launches via early access tokens.
    • Tell your brand story via collectible assets that are both scarce and exclusive.
    • Support causes your brand cares about via token sales.
    • Open up a whole new revenue stream by selling goods in purely digital form or as a complement to a physical offering.
    • Monetize your best-performing ads multiple times over by turning them into NFTs. Let customers buy a piece of your brand’s history in the making.
    • Reward crowdfunding: the likes of Starbucks and P&G have been sourcing product ideas and feedback from consumers for years. Now co-creators can get rewarded for their contribution by owning a share in the final output.

As we discussed last week, NFTs are built upon blockchains, making them totally unique. Check out our previous blog if you need a quick refresh on the topic!

But why can marketers and the FMCG industry benefit from these?

NFTs are potentially the beginning of a new age for brands, and those who act now could be regarded pioneers in the market. Dismissing it as just another trend, as social media and the internet once were, could be a big miss off the mark.

While most commonly NFTs tokens are used within art it is important to note that they can be used to represent absolutely anything. NFTs can help businesses create unique and engaging content. By increasing brand awareness, and opening up new revenue streams. Choosing what type of item will best serve their objectives and then designing an NFT to put it into action.

Retailers can gain a lot from adding NFTs to their existing product lines. Especially if they build a community around it which adds to the interaction with consumer. Through things such as early access to goods and allowing them to participate in product launches.

NFTs can be sold with the purchase of physical products. Allowing consumers to own a digital version and gain additional benefits. For example a vintage bottle of wine sold with an NFT, may offer a certification that proves a limited-edition product is the genuine article. Plus exclusive access to something product or brand focused.

This helps NFTs stand out to consumer brands. They open the door to a new class of digital-native consumers with a lot of money. Who want to interact with collectibles in a more immersive, frictionless way than traditional physical items can provide.

The two main pillars of an effective marketing strategy: brand storytelling and consumer interaction. Two huge things for marketers that NFTs have introduced new opportunities and creative outlets for.

One great example of how brands can utilise these assets is to put NFT authenticity behind events, masterclasses, webinars etc. Attendees can receive a certification of attendance plus extra exclusive material as a takeaway. Whilst the specific lecture in some cases may not be the most impressive certificate to hold. People love to feel as though they are receiving more for their money. Additionally handing out NFTs in a new and exciting market, could cement your company as both unique and leading edge.

Another example for businesses to benefit from NFTs is to sell them to raise money for your business or to help crowdfund it. The NFT you sell could be tied to your business to make your market and their interests more relevant. From video snippets and GIFs to corporate logos and images, there’s something for everyone. The notion is that they have value to the consumer because of their uniqueness and distinction. Royalties can then be added to each NFT and earned on every future sale.

    Examples of brands using NFTs:

    The Metaverse

The metaverse is an amazing new way for brands to really add value to their buying journey and customer experience. Gucci, Balenciaga and Nike are a few brands to name who sell virtual merchandise within the metaverse, ensuring their real-world wearers will also be able to style out their virtual avatars in the products too.

Whilst this may seem extravagant it’s already the norm among young, internet native consumers. 85% of Fortnite gamers buy downloadable items, the most popular of which are cosmetic character skins. This will be a huge part of an individual’s credibility and ‘image’ within the metaverse, as in real life, an individual’s avatar, and wallet of cryptos, NFTs etc will be a huge representation of who they are. Garry Vee shared that it’s likely that in the future it will be the new social currency, almost the replacement of logos and designer clothes.

With a little imagination, brand owners may open a whole new universe of possibilities this can be particularly recognised in the FMCG industries too where brands can do things within the metaverse such as:

    • Create VR tours of their brand home
    • Your business might have its own virtual brand ambassador, who would ‘tour’ the metaverse promoting your products through special events.
    • You can work with ‘Alternative Reality’ bars who can feature your drinks brand to offer out-of-this-world digital cocktail and drinking experiences – such as the first AR bar in London – Otherworld
    • Digital Product Launches

As it stands these platforms can still be a high-risk place however, the rewards can be huge. Whilst this technology will tremendously help brands grow, social media will still always be key for building community and brand name.

As the markets expand people will slowly begin to build whole economies around them – getting ahead of the game now has the potential to do a lot for you or your brand!
